A space for ideas to grow

Ultrimax Paint & Consumables Brochures

Ultrimax is an industrial coatings supplier providing paint, consumables, spray equipment and technical support to businesses across a wide range of industries.

This project brought together two extensive product brochures designed to organise Ultrimax’s growing product range into a clear, consistent and practical format.

Across both brochures, more than 100 pages of product information, technical specifications, guidance and supporting content were refined and developed into a connected catalogue system.

The Brief

The brief was to create two professional, print-ready brochures covering Ultrimax’s Paint and Consumables ranges. Each brochure needed to present a large amount of detailed product information without becoming difficult to navigate or visually overwhelming.
The designs also needed to feel connected, while allowing the individual product categories within each brochure to remain easy to recognise.

Project Goals

-Organise a large and technically detailed product range
-Create a consistent visual system across both brochures
-Make products and specifications easier to compare
-Improve the clarity and readability of product information
-Support customers with useful guidance and selection tools
-Create clear routes to further information and technical support

Approach

Information Structure
The project included 104 pages across ten main product sections. I created a clear structure using contents pages, numbered sections, category colours, section openers and consistent page headings. This allowed customers to move through each brochure more easily and quickly identify the information most relevant to them.

A Connected Visual System
Both brochures were designed around the existing Ultrimax brand, using its bold black, red and blue colour palette alongside strong industrial imagery. A connected set of page layouts was developed for product listings, technical tables, guidance pages, category introductions and calls to action. This created consistency across the brochures without making every page feel exactly the same.

Content Refinement
Working from existing product information, I reviewed and refined descriptions to make them clearer, more concise and better suited to a brochure format. The aim was to retain the important technical details while helping customers understand what each product was, where it could be used and why it might be the right choice for their application.

Technical Information
Many products included sizes, finishes, product codes, mixing ratios and other technical specifications. I organised this information into clear tables and supporting panels, making it easier to scan and compare without interrupting the overall page layout.

Helpful Content and Guidance
The brochures were designed to do more than simply list products. Supporting pages and content were included throughout to help customers choose between different products, understand complete coating systems and find suitable solutions for particular applications. QR codes, contact information and carefully placed calls to action created clear routes to product ranges, technical advice and further support.

The Outcome

The final project included:
-A 48-page Industrial Paint & Wood Coating Solutions brochure
-A 56-page Consumables & Spray Equipment brochure
-104 professionally designed pages
-Clearly organised product sections
-Consistent product layouts and technical tables
-Supporting guidance and product-selection content

Together, the two brochures provide Ultrimax with a cohesive and practical catalogue system that presents a large product range in a way that feels structured, professional and recognisably theirs.

Reflection

This project highlighted the importance of designing systems rather than treating every page as an individual layout.

With more than 100 pages of products, technical data and supporting content, consistency was essential. Creating a flexible visual system allowed the information to remain clear while still giving each product category its own identity.

It was also a valuable opportunity to combine design with content development. Refining the wording, organising technical information and considering how customers would use each page were just as important as the visual design itself.

The finished brochures demonstrate how thoughtful structure can make even a large and complex product range feel easier to understand and navigate.
